About Us

As you enter downtown Calumet, Copper World is located in the historic John Green Block at 101 Fifth Street. Built in 1869, it is the oldest wood-frame structure in Calumet.

Owners Tony and Joyce Bausano started the business in 1974. Three years later, they purchased the current building and have since been restoring their landmark.

Through the years, the Bausano children grew up learning the family business. Their daughter Chris and son Tim have continued working for the store.

Inside, you will find one of the largest selections of gifts of the Keweenaw. Copper World features many local artists as well as other regional, national, and international artists and companies. The store has been built around the copper mining history. Therefore, we feature many copper gifts along with the largest selection of books and dvd's about the regions history. We also carry minerals & memorabilia from the Copper Mining era. Other items featured inside Copper World include Thimbleberry Jam and Sayklly's Chocolates. The building adjacent is also part of Copper World and carries clothing from infant to adult 3xl, hats, mittens, scarves, purses, and much more.

Copper World is open year round with extended summer and holiday hours.
