DESCRIPTION:Free training program for the  deaf and hard of hearing population and their families\, friends\, or employers. I'm hoping you will share this information with your colleagues and urge them to register for the free training event on 10-6-15 at the CCISD in Hancock. \n\n \n\nThe mission of the Kooser Program is to enhance and empower the lives of individuals with hearing loss and their families\, friends\, and employers through education and support services. The Kooser Program was developed by Cathy Kooser\, a licensed independent social worker who has a severe sensorineural hearing loss.  Your Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) facilitators also have extensive personal and professional experience with hearing loss\, and invite you to participate in this a FREE program! \n\nThe Kooser Program addresses the impact of this "hidden" disability\, while also teaching effective communication strategies and coping skills.\n\n                 \n\nJust Exactly - WHAT IS THE KOOSER PROGRAM?\n\n \n\nAn interactive\, experiential group process that covers the following topics:\n\n \n\n              Audiogram basics for consumers\n\n              Hearing instruments\n\n              Hearing loss sensitization for the communication partner\n\n              Impact on spouse and family\n\n              Acceptance\n\n              Emotion focused/Problem focused coping behaviors\n\n              Communication is complex\n\n              Assertiveness\n\n              Changing communication behavior\n\n              Hearing loss in the workplace\n\n              Relationship issues
