DESCRIPTION:Long before modern mining\, Native Americans were recovering and mining copper here\, in\n\nwhat was the first use of metal by people in the world.\n\nBy at least 8\,000 years ago\, a full fledged copper industry existed here in the western Lake\n\nSuperior Region. The manufacturing of projectile points\, knives\, axes\, awls\, celts\, wedges\,\n\ncrescents and many other tools and decorative objects\, occurred in what is modern day\n\nMichigan\, Minnesota and Wisconsin.\n\nRobin Mueller and Bob Wheeler of the Copper Country Ancient Sites Conservancy will\n\ndiscuss the efforts and projects of the CCASC in regards to the study of the earliest\n\ninhabitants of this area.
